About Us

The Commonwealth Sport Movement is made up of 74 independent and equal nations and territories, with the latest countries joining in 2022. Together, they are home to 2.7 billion people. That includes one in three of the world’s young people, between the ages of 15 and 29.

The Commonwealth Games is their big moment. Known as the 'Friendly Games', this multi-sport event brings elite Athletes and Para Athletes together to compete for glory; the only Games of its size to fully integrate Para Sport. More than that, it brings together the many different cultures that they represent, in a celebration of difference and achievement.

In 2026, the Commonwealth Games is returning to Glasgow, Scotland. Set to become only the third city to host the Games twice, after Auckland and Edinburgh, Glasgow is a wonderful city for such an event. Its rich history of industry, science, technology, research, art, architecture, music and sport has ripened into a modern city with a multicultural identity and unrivalled air of friendliness and vibrancy.

We are taking the opportunity to model a leaner Games, built on the infrastructure and expertise of Glasgow’s previous time as host. The streamlined event will take place entirely within the city boundaries, creating an intense and immersive atmosphere, and will be an inspiration for future hosts around the Commonwealth in its sustainability and attainability.

Glasgow 2026 is being funded by the Commonwealth Games Federation, with an additional contribution from Commonwealth Games Australia. We are taking no funding from the Scottish or UK Governments.

The Games are run by the Glasgow 2026 Organising Company, in partnership with the Commonwealth Games Federation and Commonwealth Games Scotland.
